Google I/O Extended 2016
It's that time of the year again when we get to learn the latest technological developments at Google and showcase what we've been working on ! Join us and let's celebrate !
Learning With GDG Buea 2020
Learning with GDG Buea is an initiative that was started in 2020 during the heart of the pandemic to keep community activities spinning as community members worked from the comfort of their homes (without being exposed to the physical world). Various sessions spearheaded by members of the community took place which doesn’t only focus on hard-core tech but also cover areas like community engagement, how to learn programming, tech job interviews and more.
Developer Festival Buea 2019
DevFests are yearly community-led developer events hosted by Google Developer Groups around the globe. DevFests may cover multiple products such as Android, Firebase, Google Cloud Platform, Google Assistant, Flutter, machine learning with TensorFlow, and mobile web, through speaker sessions, hackathons, codelabs, study jams, and training.
Google I/O Extended 2019 Buea
Google I/O Extended 2019 Buea is a two day event that aims at bringing together developers, designers, varsity and secondary school students, tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs to experience Google’s most recent technologies ( Internet of Things, Virtual Reality/AR, Firebase, Google Analytics and Google slides API ) and make use of some in building services for the community. Day 1 will be mainly for google cloud platforms. It will be tailored towards understanding how different google cloud platform's functions, how to subscribe and possible projects that could be developed using such platforms. More flavour will be added to this day by getting a number of 2017 GSoC candidates present an overview of their projects to inspire others to contribute to open source. On Day 2, we will watch the keynote for IO 2017, have more code labs and some business oriented presentations. It will be characterised by presentations on Virtual Reality, code labs on building real time applications using firebase and more. Further presentations on google analytics will be done to explain to the audience how that tool can be used to understand user interaction on your website thus growing one's business. The event will run for a maximum of 8 hours per day.
Google Summer of Code Meetup 2019
Help us change the world one line of code at a time! Over the last 14 years, GSoC has enabled more than 14,762 students from 109 countries to work with 651 open source projects and produce millions of lines of code since its inception in 2005. The goals of the program are to motivate students to begin participating in open source development, provide students in Computer Science and related fields the opportunity to do work related to their academic pursuits, give students exposure to real-world software development scenarios (e.g., testing, version control, software licensing, mailing-list etiquette, etc.), create more open source code and help open source projects onboard new contributors.
University of Buea GSoC Meetup 2014
The University of Buea Google Summer Of Code Meet-Up will be a power-packed university outreach event organised by the Google Students Club at the University Of Buea and the Google Developer Group Buea where students will be inspired to contribute to the open source community by leveraging the Google Summer Of Code 2015 program. We are expecting over 200 students to attend this event. #GSoC#GOSPO#GDG#techosystem#SiliconMountain#CommunityThatCodes
Polymer Code Lab & Hackathon 2016

We intend to develop this Progressive Web App during the 48-hour Firebase AppFest at Skylabase from Wednesday October 24th to Friday October 27, 2017. During the following day, we'll do codelabs on Google technologies such as Tensorflow, promote gender diversity as well as learn from a panel discussion on community member's Open Source Experiences at Eta Palace Hotel.
International Women's Day 2017
On International Women's Day, Google is supporting GDGs to honour the efforts of women by highlighting their achievements in diverse fields. The first recorded celebration for International Women's Day was on May 3, 1908, in Chicago in United States. It was celebrated on March 8 for the first time in 1914. But the dates continued to fluctuate till the mid-40's. The United Nations theme for the International Women's Day this year is "Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture it!" Last year, GDG Buea celebrated International Women's Day at Linas Ice Cream by motivating women to contribute to open source by leveraging the programs like Google Summer of Code, Outreachy and Endless Vacation of Code. This year Mpara Faith, Women Techmakers Lead for GDG Buea and other female organizers are doing more to encourage their peers to contribute to open source.

Google I/O 2015
Google I/O kicked off this week in San Francisco with a clear reminder that the company mission has extended well beyond a list of 10 blue links. Google’s Senior Vice President of Product, Sundar Pichai, reminded the crowd of 3,000 developers just how broad that mission is: to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. What started with search now includes mobile operating systems, self-driving cars, virtual reality, ad platforms, natural language processing, and one of the most remarkable products ever made out of cardboard.
CLOUD NATIVE CON 2017
The community around Kubernetes is blossoming. Attendance for this month’s KubeCon in Austin doubled last year’s audience to hit more than 4,200 attendees. That impressive number is made all the sweeter due to VMware’s participation in KubeCon 2017 as a platinum sponsor.
Google Open Day 2013
On November 29, 2013, over 500 students across the University showed up at the Amphi 250 to learn about the presence of Google on campus. They also learned about Google's opportunities such as Google Teacher Academy for pedagogues, Google Policy Fellowship for Law students, Google Summer of Code for engineering majors, Google Online Marketing Challenge for business majors and Google Student Ambassador program which is open to students. We were also honored to have the Vice Chancellor grace the occasion to encourage organizers to keep up the good work of improving the lives of their peers with technology and Google :-)
